<P>This section of the documentation applies to <STRONG>Microsoft Application Request Routing Version 
3 </STRONG>.</P>

<P>Microsoft Application Request Routing (ARR) is a proxy-based routing module that forwards HTTP requests to application servers based on HTTP headers, server variables, and load balance algorithms.&nbsp;&nbsp; </P>

<P>ARR Version 3&nbsp;is an incremental release that includes all of the features from Version 
2.5,&nbsp;and adds support for Web Sockets. </P>

	<H2>Features</H2>
<P>ARR Version 3&nbsp;includes the following key features:</P>

<UL>
<LI><strong>WebSocket Support</strong><BR>ARRv3 supports proxying and load 
balancing of Websocket connections.&nbsp; 
<LI><strong>Retries for URL health check <br />
</strong>It supports multiple retries of URL health check before marking server 
unhealthy.</UL>

	<h2>Installation Notes</h2>
	
	<p class="BulletedList1">Application Request Routing
	<a href="http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9653506">installs</a> the following 
	products:</p>

				Microsoft URL Rewrite Module Version 2 for IIS 7.0
		</li>
		<li>
				Microsoft Application Request Routing Version 3 
		</li>
		<li>
		Microsoft External Cache Version 1 for IIS 7.0
		</li>
	</ul>
	<h3><a name="_Uninstalling"></a>Uninstalling</h3>
	<p>To remove Application Request Routing, in <b>Programs and 
	Features</b> in <b>Control Panel</b>, select the following programs and 
	click <b>Uninstall</b> under <b>Uninstall or change a program</b>.  All 3 
	products mentioned above must be uninstalled individually.</p>

<P>ARR Version&nbsp;2 is a Released To Web (RTW) product and the support is provided by <A href="http://support.microsoft.com/" mce_href="http://support.microsoft.com/">Microsoft Help and Support</A>.&nbsp; The <A href="http://forums.iis.net/1154.aspx" mce_href="http://forums.iis.net/1154.aspx">forum </A>will remain active.</P>
