\pard\nowidctlpar\b\f0\fs22 Intro Summary\par
\b0 When you set up Windows Server, you\rquote ll be offered a set of default settings which are recommended to connect your device to services that give you a more personalized experience, help make your device more reliable and secure, and help improve Microsoft services. You can change these settings later if you wish. The information below explains what data Microsoft will collect and how it will be used when you select default settings. Please be sure to review the full Microsoft Privacy Statement (aka.ms/winserverprivacy) for more info on what personal data Microsoft collects and how it\rquote s used when you use Windows Server. \par

\pard\nowidctlpar\fi-360\li720\sa160\sl252\slmult1\b0\f1\lang2057\'b7\tab\b\f0\lang1033 Personalized speech, inking, and typing. \b0 These services allow Microsoft to collect and use data about your speech, inking (handwriting), and typing on your Windows devices. This data helps improve our ability to correctly recognize and personalize your input. You can turn this off at any time in Settings. \par
\f1\lang2057\'b7\tab\b\f0\lang1033 Send typing and inking data. \b0 Your typed and handwritten words are also collected to improve character recognition and to provide you with a personalized user dictionary and text completion suggestions. Some of this data is stored on your device and some is sent to Microsoft to help improve these services for all users. You can turn this off at any time in Settings. \par
\f1\lang2057\'b7\tab\b\f0\lang1033 Advertising ID.\b0 Windows generates a unique advertising ID for each user on a device which application developers and advertising networks can use to provide more relevant advertising. You can turn this off at any time in Settings. Turning it back on will reset the ID. \b\par

\pard{\*\pn\pnlvlcont\pnf2\pnindent0{\pntxtb\'B7}}\nowidctlpar\tx5895\b0 Microsoft\rquote s location service provides both precise and general location information to Windows devices using a combination of global positioning service (GPS), nearby wireless access points and/or cell towers, or an IP address, depending on the device capabilities. You allow certain apps, services, and Windows features to access and use this data to deliver location-aware services. Location data is also used to help you find your device if you lose it (a service called Find My Device). This information is also sent to Microsoft to improve location services. Data about a Windows device\rquote s recent location history is stored on the device. You can control location access and clear your device\rquote s location history in Settings. \par

\b Browser, Protection, and Update\par

\pard\nowidctlpar\fi-382\li720\sa160\sl252\slmult1\b0\f1\lang2057\'b7\tab\b\f0\lang1033 Page Prediction. \b0 Windows browsers send your browsing history to Microsoft, and Microsoft uses that data to proactively load pages you are likely to browse next for a faster browsing experience. Microsoft also collects browsing history data, associated with your user id, related to your visits to a limited number of Microsoft-owned web sites. You can turn this off at any time in browser settings. \par
\f1\lang2057\'b7\tab\b\f0\lang1033 SmartScreen Filter\b0 sends data to Microsoft about the websites you visit and files you download in order to help warn you and protect you and your device from unsafe web content or malicious software. You can turn SmartScreen Filter off in Settings at any time.\par
\f1\lang2057\'b7\tab\b\f0 Windows Update Delivery Optimization \b0 lets you get Windows updates and Windows Store apps from sources in addition to Microsoft. This can help you get updates and apps more quickly if you have a limited or unreliable Internet connection. And if you own more than one PC, it can reduce the amount of Internet bandwidth needed to keep all your PCs up-to-date. Delivery Optimization also sends updates and apps from your PC to other PCs on your local network or PCs on the Internet.\lang1033 \par

\pard\nowidctlpar\b Connectivity\par
\b0 When you are out and about, there may be paid hotspots available. Windows helps you find and connect to these networks. \par

\lang2057 Diagnostic Reporting\lang9\par
\b0\lang2057 Opting in to \ldblquote Send full diagnostic and usage data to Microsoft\rdblquote sets your Diagnostic and usage data setting to Full, which allows us to collect a more complete set of data to diagnose problems on your device. When we encounter a problem that is difficult to diagnose with our internal testing, data needed to diagnose and fix the problem (including the user content that may have triggered the issue, if appropriate) will be gathered from a small sample number of devices that have opted in to the Full level and exhibit the problem. If you don\rquote t choose to \ldblquote Send full diagnostic and usage data to Microsoft\rdblquote , Diagnostic and usage data collection will be set to Basic on your device. You can adjust your Diagnostic and usage data collection level at any time in Settings. \par
\lang1033\par
\b DNT\par
\b0 Microsoft browsers include a \ldblquote Do Not Track\rdblquote (DNT) setting that can send a signal to the websites you visit requesting that you not be tracked. DNT is off, but you can turn it on at any time in browser settings. A range of other controls are provided in browser settings to help you control data collection and use.\par
